WHY SHE RUNS: Ann Fields, Candidate for Iowa House District 28

  1. Tell us a little bit about your race:

My district is large geographically, spanning over almost 80 miles from north to south, with over 7,250 Republicans, 4,850 Democrats and 7,700 Independent registered voters.

It is a challenge to reach everyone, especially the Independents. I have knocked on over 3,500 doors and over 27,000 doors have been knocked by my campaign team, which includes the Campaign for Iowa team, and Democrats from Marion, Jasper, and Lucas County.

  1. What advice do you have for future women who will run for office?
    • Get a seasoned campaign staff. You can involve your friends but select experienced people for your Campaign Chair and Treasurer.
    • Raise funds early and keep on raising funds.  If you can’t ask for money, rethink your willingness to run.
    • Be willing to knock on doors. In the beginning, very few people wanted to help me knock on doors during the hot summer. But I knocked, knocked, and knocked. Volunteers started coming out of the woodwork, thanks to the Campaign for Iowa district representative, and now we have over 30 volunteers every weekend! And I’m still out there knocking Monday – Friday!

  1. How can people help your campaign?

VOTE, make sure your friends vote, and take your neighbors to vote. Make your plan to vote here. To learn more about Ann’s campaign and how you can get involved, visit annfieldsforachange.com.

Ann left us with one strong and clear message, “Now is the time, a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, to make a difference for you, your children, and the state of Iowa.”
